Picture this: a missing window, a loosely swinging gutter that’s relocating to the next postcode, interior design by black mould, and floorboards that have clearly been on the menu for generations of woodworm. Oh, and more cluster flies than a low-budget horror film.
We’ve lovingly ignored it for years — like responsible adults (i.e., complete denial). But it turns out this one charming disaster zone has been holding the entire house hostage. No reliable electrics, sketchy plumbing, and enough dust to recreate the Sahara.
The walls? Absolutely marinated in damp, thanks to broken windows and plaster that quit sometime in the '90s. The lime mortar is still clinging to hope, while the place became an Airbnb for flies, bees, lizards, and what I’m pretty sure was a woodworm rave.
The double glazing miraculously survived; despite being installed by someone who thought blocking drainage holes was a great idea. The frames are now a bit... puffy, but hey, we believe in second chances.
And then there’s the chimney. After a few “creative” bodge stove boiler experiments, it's now a proud monument to structural survival and apparently, the former HQ of the local rat population.
Renovating this corner feels less like construction and more like archaeology, except every layer you uncover just makes you want cake.
Wish us luck.
