This effect can happen after a prolonged period of time that the watch has stopped and is not something that occurs after three months or even six. Or, if water has penetrated inside(not in our current case though).
So, back in our case, this phenomenon was intensified because the wrong battery type was used. Even though size and voltage are correct the battery was a number 370 instead of number 371. 370 is a High-Drain whereas this watch should be using a Low-Drain 371 battery.
High-Drain batteries are used inside watches that have extra functions and need additional energy, such as chronograph watches, or LCD watches with light. Normal wristwatches use low-drain batteries.
Always make sure to choose a professional watchmaker who knows the proper battery type for your watch!
