This year marks the 50th anniversary of Jaws, one of Steven Spielberg's most iconic films. The horror-thriller famously went completely over-budget during production, but its blockbuster success dubbed the then-Hollywood newcomer "the greatest master of suspense since Alfred Hitchcock".

Steven Spielberg reflected on his early success in 1982 when he spoke to 60 Minutes reporter George Negus ahead of the opening of E.T. in Australia. Spielberg said people had told him to stop making movies after Jaws, but he rejected that, and went on to become one of the most celebrated filmmakers in history.
