They also take in Sunday’s summit of international leaders in London chaired by Keir Starmer, which saw the PM leading the European response and seeming to pull of a delicate balancing act as a conduit between the American and Ukrainian presidents.
Whether Starmer and French president Emmanuel Macron’s plan for a “coalition of the willing” to lead the defence of a post-war Ukraine is feasible very much remains to be seen – especially without American air cover.
