Burndown and burnup charts in a sprint are used by scrum masters for tracking and communicating the progress. The difference between the two is that burndown chart shows how much work is remaining to be done, while burnup chart shows how much work has been completed. Both of these are used in the project.

As a tool that is widely used during sprints, it is an effective method of assessing the project status. The primary advantage of using these types of chart is simplicity of communication. Since these charts contain information about the progress of the project presented using a single-line chart, it would be easier for the scrum masters and the team to understand it. Scrum masters could also easily communicate the status of their project to the external stakeholders who can easily understand what needs to be done and what has been completed.
