Haithabu, also known as Hedeby, was a significant settlement of Danish Vikings and Swedish Varangians.
It is considered an early medieval city in Northern Europe and served as a crucial trading hub and
major center for long-distance trade between Scandinavia, Western Europe, the North Sea region, and the Baltic.
It was founded around 770 and was finally destroyed by 1066 at the latest.
The song's lyrics draw inspiration from Thorkell Skallason and also the Runestone of Eric, bringing the tales of Viking warriors and their storied past to life.

Lyrics:
Fra ende til annen
hele Heidaby vi brente.
Et storverk der vi gjorde,
I natt før odda
så jeg i byen ilden
høyt ifra husene raste
Nord til sør, og vest til øst,
Store folk kommer med hast.
Krever makt med våpen i hånd,
Hedeby, det er din ånd
Torulf reiste denne steinen,
en av Sveins huskarer, etter at Erik,
våpenbroren hans,
som døde da tapre menn omringet Hedeby,
men han var båt
Hedeby, Hedeby, herskere kom,
Ingenmannsland, for alltid tomt.
Hedeby, Hedeby, en gang stort,
Nå er du aske, dypt i jorden.
Jern og sverd, silke og gull,
Senter av makt, så verdifullt.
Sverd-old, øks-old, mørk og vill,
Alt er tapt i den røde ild.
