Watch in HD!!! This is a song titled 'Inferno' by Marty Friedman. I had the amazing opportunity to record drums for his past two albums, 'Inferno' and 'Wall of Sound'. I wanted to get a video out for this song at some point because its definitely one of the more challenging tunes I've done with Marty.
This song is definitely one of the crazier songs I've written drums for ever. It pretty much doesn't stop after it starts... Playing this live with Marty last summer was also a challenge. The song is so chaotic, but so much fun to get through. There isn't really anything too technical going on. Its really just a lot of heavy hitting and bonehead fills, which I love to do now and then. The tempo is right in that sweet spot for me where its not too fast but not to slow. I actually struggle in this area with this kind of drumming because it forces my body to have to power through a lot of the parts. Its a good challenge, and I'm very proud of the drum parts I put on the record. I hope you enjoy!
On a side note, Im not using my normal stack in this video because Marty doesn't like stacks... haha. So Im using two china's on my right side, which was actually pretty sick.
