Ableton Live 11 is due for release in the first part of 2021, and here are the 11 best new features that ensures it's a must-have for any electronic music producer...

1) Comping
⁃ For the first time with Ableton, you can record multiple takes, then comp the best of those takes together quickly and easily. This is huge.
2) Scales
⁃ You can now select your scale of your choice in the clip, and use it as a template to write chords and melodies without ever hitting a dud note!
3) Macros
⁃ You can now use up to 12 macro controls in racks – AND save snapshots of particular macro settings – allowing way more control.
4) MPE
⁃ Better integration with MPE controllers, meaning you can have far more control over simultaneous parameters, allowing for some incredible sound design possibilities.
5) Browser
⁃ The browser has been improved, with effects now being organised into categories for ease of use, as well as Max for Live instruments being integrated more seamlessly.
6) Piano Roll
⁃ As well as the new scales feature, there are several improvements to the piano roll editor that make it easier to use, such as being able to click, hold and draw in melodies.
7) Randomisation
⁃ You can now assign velocity randomisation parameters within clips, enabling more natural-sounding and variable MIDI replay.
8) CPU usage meters
⁃ Sounds like a small thing, but this is a great way to see which specific channels are slowing down your CPU so you can freeze them!
9) Hybrid Reverb & other new effects
⁃ A great new reverb unit that combines convolution and algorithmic reverb modelling into one, super-slick effect with tons of control.
10) Redux (and other effect improvements)
⁃ Redux and come of the other original effects have been updated and improved, meaning better-sounding, faster-working sessions.
11) Linked Track Editing
⁃ “Link” tracks together and edit them all at the same time. Another handy, speedier way of editing tracks!
