Donald Trump continued his mass firings last week, on Thursday hitting the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and the National Weather Service. By removing the very people that we rely upon for weather forecasting and warnings, Trump has endangered the entire country – right as severe weather is about to become a major concern for the very Red State citizens who put him back in office. Ring of Fire’s Farron Cousins explains what happened.

The Trump administration continued their mass firings late last week. And on Thursday, those mass firings hit the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, or noaa, which is much easier to say. And the National Weather Service, you know, the two government agencies that are, you know, spread out across the country. They're not just in DC and they help local weather forecasters. They read radars, they look at trends, they read all the data, they find the anomalies, and they predict severe weather outbreaks and warn people. Most importantly, that severe weather is on the way. Those people have lost their jobs, hundreds of them on Thursday. Now, a judge has already issued a preliminary injunction and said, Nope, you can't do this. These are likely illegal firings. But a lot of the people had already been let go, right? They, they did not go back into the office on Friday, even after the preliminary injunction.

Don't know if they showed up today, but this is what's happening. There is no reason on God's green earth to fire these people if you are a normal, rational person with a fully functioning brain. Unfortunately, there are none of those in the Trump administration. Not a single one, not a single normal, rational human being serving in this administration. So Donald Trump has an axe to grind ever since Sharpie gate, right when he had to draw in with a Sharpie, his, his prediction of where the hurricane was gonna go back then. So he's hated them ever since. So this was partly political retribution. The other part of it, of course, is that these people are also some of the loudest and most vocal voices about the effects of climate change. Well, we can't have that, right? Climate is a banned word in this administration, and I do mean that quite literally. They have gone through government documents and removed mentions of climate change, and you're not allowed to put it in any new ones. That is a thing that happened. So get rid of the people talking about it. Here's the kicker. Right now we are expecting, uh, severe weather events to start taking place across the southeast, beginning tomorrow, and lasting for a couple of days. These severe weather events could bring flooding, they could bring tornadoes, and he just fired the people responsible for giving you the warnings about those. The people responsible for tracking these things, for measuring these things, for reading the data, they're gone days before. All of these red states, which I'm in, get hit with this severe weather.

And yes, for the record, all of the states that are expected to experience these severe weather outbreaks this week are red states. Oh, and here's another fun fact. We're coming up on the Atlantic hurricane season, right? And just about every possible place where a hurricane could hit in the United States is a red state. There's only a couple of exceptions, and they rarely get hit, right? Like maybe a hurricane will go to New York, maybe Yes, it has happened, obviously, Sandy, but that is rare. What's not rare is for these hurricanes to go to Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, those places actually get hit pretty frequently. At least one of them will be, be hit at least once a year. I know I've lived on the Gulf Coast almost my entire life, and now you are disabling the agencies responsible for the forecast, responsible for those predictions.
