26 structures on Buriganga land evicted

Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority and Dhaka district administration on Sunday evicted 26 structures that were built illegally on grabbed land of the Old channel of the River Buriganga at Kamrangirchar in Dhaka. The eviction drive was conducted as per directives from the High Court.
An official order issued by the BIWTA said that the eviction drive against illegal structures that began on Sunday would continue until December 30. It said that the drive would be conducted on January 2, 2022 too.
Of the 26 evicted structures, six were concrete establishments. The concrete establishments include two four-storey buildings, a part of a three storey building, a part of a six storey building, one two storey building and a one-storey building.
Five semi-concrete structures, 12 tin-shed houses and two concrete walls were among the evicted structures.
