José Reyes, Jr. was inducted into the Engineering Hall of Fame at the 2024 Oregon Stater Awards. Reyes is a prominent figure in nuclear engineering, recognized for co-founding NuScale Power and serving as its Chief Technology Officer.

Reyes credits much of NuScale's success to the unwavering support from Oregon State University, where he has been a faculty member for over 30 years. The university’s commitment to innovation and research helped the transition from laboratory concepts to market-ready technology, to creating an opportunity for a design certification from the Nuclear Regulatory Commission in 2023. Through his work, Reyes aims to reshape the nuclear industry and contribute to a sustainable energy future.
