Here are 3 Levels of Ramen
Level 1: Basic Cup Ramen
Remove the seal, add hot water, and mix. I'm not even sure what exactly is in this stuff.
We can definitely do better.
Level 2: Good Semi-Homemade Ramen
Add some soup base, your ramen spice packet, and hot water to a bowl. Add in your dried noodles and top with fresh cilantro, dried chilis, a few poached shrimp, lime juice, and some chili oil.
This is really good, but we can still do better.
Level 3: The Ultimate Ramen
We're going all out with this one, so start by getting yourself a baby cow tongue and put it into a pot with a burnt onion, star anise, a little salt, a cinnamon stick, fish sauce, a couple of bay leaves and cover with water. Put that into a pressure cooker for an hour or so.
Soft boil a few eggs, and let those marinade in a mixture of sweet and regular soy sauce while you prep everything else. Get some dried pearl, wood ear, shiitake, and cloud ear mushrooms and rehydrate them in a high-quality beef stock.
Add some fresh rice noodles to a bowl and pour over some of your beef tongue stock. Top with your mushrooms, some steamed boy choy, your marinated eggs, sliced beef tongue, and some chili oil.
Trust me, you've never had ramen this good in your life. This needs to b one of your go-to cozy meals this winter.
