David Jon Gilmour was born on March 6, 1946.Gilmour is a musician and multi-instrumentalist who is the guitarist, vocalist and songwriter of the rock band Pink Floyd.
Gilmour has also worked as a producer for various artists and has had a successful solo career. Throughout his musical career, he has been actively involved in the activities of many charitable organizations.
In 2003, he was awarded the rank of Commander of the Order of the British Empire for his charitable work. He was awarded the "Outstanding Contribution" award at the 2008 Q Awards.
In 2009, the British magazine Classic Rock included Gilmour in its list of the greatest guitarists in the world.
In 2011, Gilmour took 14th place in the ranking of Rolling Stone magazine's "100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time".
