In the Carpathian Mountains, people live differently than on the plains. Here you can find people who live their entire lives without light, running water, or the means of civilization. Maria, a woman who has raised two sons for 78 years, lives alone in a mountain house. You can only get to her by horse. In winter, wolves and foxes come to her to steal chickens. At the beginning of the film, we look into the village of Bolshaya Ugolka in Transcarpathia, to my friend Vasily. This is the most popular name in these parts. Vasily has a large farm, and every day from early morning he takes care of his offspring. And so all his life!
