Retro Release: 32 years ago today—on July 5, 1993—Björk released Debut, her first international solo studio album on One Little Indian/Elektra, co-produced with Nellee Hooper and recorded between 1991 and early 1993.Melding alternative dance, art-pop, electropop, and house with touches of jazz and trip-hop, Debut introduced signature singles like “Human Behaviour,” “Venus As A Boy,” and “Big Time Sensuality,” showcasing Björk’s adventurous vocals over eclectic, club-inspired grooves.
It peaked at No. 3 on the UK Albums Chart and No. 61 on the US Billboard 200, was certified Platinum in the US and Gold in Canada, and remains Björk’s best-selling album.
