Welcome back, everyone. Last week, we added an old Thwaites dumper to our collection to help move the soil we're digging out behind the barn. Just to refresh your memory, our main goal is to create a parking area there. This will make it easier to drive around the buildings and back to the front gate, plus it will help resolve some water issues that are compromising the barn's structure. We initially checked out the dumper, and it seemed fine, running pretty well. However, after Philippe drove it around a few times, it started losing power and isn’t running as smoothly as before. We really need it in good shape before help finally arrives in a few weeks to assist with shifting all that soil.
Meanwhile, Philippe has been making his daily rounds, trying to get the old red tractor engine running again and tackling various tasks now that the Luba 2 robotic mower from Mammotion is taking care of the mowing. With his freed-up time, he's been reinstalling the cover of an inspection hole, part of our drainage system for wastewater. He’s also been pushing back the brambles that are trying to spread.
A few days in, and with more driving around, additional issues with the dumper have cropped up. It’s clear the dumper had been sitting idle for quite some time and was in desperate need of maintenance. After discussing it with Claude, we decided to start with a thorough greasing. Later, Philippe will drive the dumper down to Claude’s workshop to complete the rest of the repairs. The goal is to get everything running smoothly again so the dumper will be ready for use in a few weeks. With Claude's help, Philippe should be able to give the dumper the thorough maintenance it needs to be ready for action!
