Israeli troops could enter Gaza City today after its military said it had split the Gaza Strip in two. “Today there is north Gaza and south Gaza,”Israel Defense Force (IDF) spokesman Rear Adm. Daniel Hagari told reporters, calling it a “significant stage” in Israel’s war against Hamas.
The Israeli army have flooded the northern half of the Gaza Strip and tightened an encirclement of Gaza City, with its forces expected to enter the city where they are likely to face militants fighting street by street using a vast network of tunnels.
It comes as the Hamas-run health ministry claimed Israeli strikes killed more than 200 people overnight in the Gaza Strip.
