In 2017, Nikko was sentenced to death and his sister Erica got life, but as of 2023 Nikko’s still alive, currently imprisoned in Nebraska and appealing his sentence. His lawyers say he’s too mentally unstable to be executed.
However, that doesn’t mean he'll be getting out anytime soon. In addition to the death penalty, he was also sentenced to 450 years in prison on weapons charges.
