On 13 September 1969, the Plastic Ono Band's 1st gig was in Canada,
at the Toronto Rock and Roll Revival festival.
Doors headlined and acts included, Chuck Berry + Gene Vincent and Alice Cooper.
The gig came about when Kim Fowley suggested that John Lennon should be asked to be the show’s MC. John agreed to come – but only if he could perform.
John was VERY nervous about performing and Kim Fowley encouraged the audience to wave lighted cigarette lighters to welcome them when the band came onstage. Generally considered to be the first time this ever happened.
