Drum & Bass continued to increase its amazing production values, but started to rebel against some of the more chilled club friendly liquid tunes tunes of the time.
It went harder and darker utilising new software based music production techniques and combining influences from some of the more mechanical tech step darkness that preceded it, but re-introducing breakbeat techniques to create an evolution of the original jungle sound of the mid 90's.
... and then Pendulum went mainstream :-(
