In the video, corn grain flows rapidly from the shipping container because it was loaded near-maximally through a roof hatch. High-pressure air pipes first blow corn into the container, compressing grains densely. During filling, workers systematically tap the walls with hammers—the vibrations force grains to settle tightly, eliminating nearly all air gaps. This creates a solid-seeming mass where corn kernels interlock under pressure. However, when doors open, gravity shears these interlocked grains at the opening’s edge. The kernels near this rupture point fluidize instantly (acting like a liquid), pulling the entire stored mass into an accelerating cascade. Air rushing into the container then further breaks friction between grains, sustaining the flow until empty.
