Born in 1969 in Ohio as Brian Hugh Warner, Marilyn Manson would spend most of his childhood being raised in a devoutly religious family in the Bible Belt of America.

His mother would take him to the local Episcopal Church, whilst also being made to attend the Heritage Christian School up until the 10th grade. His father was also a Roman Catholic.

Manson spent his early years being taught to avoid dark temptations and to devote his life to traditional forms of Anglican religion and God.

Manson developed a fascination for modern pop culture. Two of the most popular name’s of the era were Marilyn Monroe and Charles Manson. Although both were famous for two very different reasons, Manson decided to incorporate these juxtaposing celebrities into his own stage name to create Marilyn Manson.
