Two of the most popular studio monitors on the market right now, KRK RP5 G3 and Yamaha HS5 go head to head for another comparison. KRK and Yamaha cost around the same, both are very well build and have similar specs, yet they sound quite different.
Yamaha HS5, as we already concluded in previous videos, is very lean on bass, lean to the point where subwoofer becomes a must most of the times. KRK on the other hand has much more satisfying bass response, deeper more rounded but still tight. When it comes to midrange Yamaha again shows the honky colourations and rather forward overall tone. KRK is smoother and free of honkyness in comparison. Top end seem to be more airy and smoorher on KRK as well. Overall I like the performance of KRK much more, it is more pleasing to listen while being nicely detailed at the same time.
