A protest drawing in at least 700 people took place Monday, Feb. 17, 2025 on the Capitol lawn in Lansing, bringing a large crowd of people using signs and chants to air their grievances with national leadership.
Originally affiliated with the national 50501 Movement - which seeks to hold “50 protests (in) 50 states (in) 1 day” in opposition to the second Trump administration - Monday's gathering was led by the MI Resist group after 50501 was unable to get the necessary permits, said organizer Angela Risk.
Listen on to the first few minutes of the speech by Kimberly Bogan, a 54-year-old Holt resident and a member of the MI Resist group, who introduced herself as a mother, grandmother and nurse.
