NGL out now: We made these songs while I was in a season of simultaneously trying to hold on and let go. Inspired by the energy of living in a new city and being truly unattached for the first time ever (no romantic entanglements or record label) sparked a tinge of fear, but mostly a huge wave of relief and excitement. It felt like the time to do something with the rollercoaster of emotions and make some music. Thank you to my friends and fam who made this with me, especially Theron “Neff-U” Feemster, Randy Jackson, and Lil’ Eddie- who were always quick to offer a pep talk, indulge me in an inspiration brainstorm, and join me in turning over every stone to see if we liked what we found underneath.
My journey to self-love has looked a lot of different ways and it’s had plenty of starts, stops, twists and turns.
