I first saw Anton appear on the X-Factor in 2015, seven years ago, and I instantly fell in love with his voice and his personality. I got Russ Winstanley involved with me for this project, so that we could first record him, and then premiere him and his new record during the Skegness of November 2015. He told us the most amazing stories of his relationship with Simon Cowell that would make your hair stand on end. We all went in the studio and recorded both "BACK TO BASICS", a song which I had first cut in 2007 on Paul Esmond Hazell, and his X-Factor ballad, "I AM CHANGING" from the Dream Girls musical, for the B side. Skegness arrived, with nine thousand people there, and Russ and I waited for him but he never ever arrived. He had switched his phone off and we later learned that he had performed that night in Liverpool to a hundred people. What a waste. What a lost opportunity and a total waste of money. Despite these unsurmountable hurdles, it is still a great record.
