Revv G3 V2 at Thomann:
At Sweetwater:
The original Revv G3 has been my go-to high gain drive since it came out in 2018. It’s simply a monster of a pedal, and its huge gain reserves and powerful tone shaping controls have meant it’s a ubiquitous presence on my pedalboard – and in my YouTube videos!
But now, in 2025, Revv have released the V2 – and they say it’s better than the original! Apparently, the V2 has more tonal clarity and crispness, a more clear and cutting midrange, and a more amp-like playing feel.
So, the circuit’s been tweaked, then, but the controls on the G3 V2 are the same as its predecessor. You get a three-band EQ – Bass, Middle, and Treble – plus Volume and Gain controls, and a three-way Aggression switch. You start at Off, which has the least aggression and gain, then up the ante to Blue… and finally Red, which is effectively everything turned up to 11!
The G3 V2 has also had an aesthetic overhaul. The metal chassis is a slightly deeper, richer purple, and the logo – now smaller overall – is on a chic looking plate, as opposed to being directly printed on the pedal. It looks like a more expensive pedal, for sure – and it is. The G3 V2 will set you back around $229/€259, so it’s not cheap by any means.
However, it’s made in Canada (like everything Revv does) to the highest quality levels, and if it’s half as good as the original G3 pedal, it’ll be 100% worth it!
And, in this video, I’m taking the first steps in finding out if this is really the case. Is the G3 V2 worth the money, and if you already own the V1, do you need to ‘upgrade’? Well, have a listen. Here, we’re running a nice heavy loop into the front end of my Hughes & Kettner Black Spirit 200 amplifier, giving me the chance to really tweak the tones of the two G3 versions. That’ll let us hear how similar – and how different – they sound, and to what extent the V2 has improved upon the original’s incredible tonal performance.
Let me know what you think of the G3 V2 in the comments!

My setup was as follows: I ran the two G3 pedals into my Hughes & Kettner Black Spirit 200 head. The amp went from the Red Box DI straight into my Focusrite Scarlett 2i4, which went into Logic Pro X. That's it. No post-processing on the sounds was done. Here’s some links to those bits of gear:
