SCP-049, also known as "The Plague Doctor," is a humanoid entity resembling a medieval plague doctor. It wears a thick, hooded robe and a ceramic mask, which appear to be part of its body. SCP-049 speaks several languages but prefers English and has a strong, albeit delusional, belief that it is a healer capable of curing a mysterious "pestilence" it perceives in others.
When SCP-049 comes into contact with a living human it believes is "infected," it will attempt to perform surgery on them, inevitably resulting in the death of the subject. Afterward, SCP-049 will attempt to "cure" the corpse using a combination of alchemical substances and its own anomalous abilities. The resulting "cured" subjects, known as SCP-049-2, are reanimated corpses that are non-responsive, aggressive, and lack higher brain functions. SCP-049 is generally cooperative with Foundation staff but becomes extremely hostile if it feels its work is being impeded or if it encounters someone it deems "infected."
SCP-049 is contained in a secure humanoid containment cell, where it is monitored and studied to understand its anomalous properties and motivations.
Pestilence is the third track in my industrial/symphonic/cyberpunk/dark synth exploration of the SCP universe.
