Tanker Truck:
- Primary purpose: Transport liquids such as water, fuel, chemicals, or food products
- Long cylindrical tank mounted on a truck chassis
- Typically has only a small crew cabin (1-2 people)
- Minimal external equipment beyond what's needed for loading/unloading
- Often seen on highways delivering to gas stations, factories, etc.
- Usually operated by commercial entities
Fire Truck:
- Primary purpose: Respond to fires and other emergencies
- Equipped with ladders, hoses, pumps, and water tanks
- Large crew cabin to transport firefighters (typically 4-6)
- Extensive external compartments for emergency equipment
- Distinctive emergency lights and sirens
- Bright red color in most countries
- Operated by fire departments
Some fire departments do use specialized tanker trucks (sometimes called water tenders) to transport large quantities of water to fire scenes in areas without fire hydrants, but these are specifically designed for firefighting purposes, with pumps and firefighting equipment, unlike commercial tanker trucks.
