Canadian comic book hero Captain Canuck is making headlines with his 50th anniversary issue — this time, for confronting real-world figures like U.S. President Donald Trump and Elon Musk.

Creator Richard Comely says the storyline reflects growing political tensions between Canada and the U.S., with Captain Canuck symbolizing Canadian independence and resistance.

The patriotic superhero, originally launched in 1975, is seeing a resurgence as Canadians rally around national pride and comic panels show him delivering justice, and even arresting fictionalized versions of Trump and Musk.

Comely says the renewed attention shows how deeply Canadians are connecting with symbols of identity and sovereignty as the country has endured repeated waves of tariffs, annexation threats, and other unpredictable behaviour from U.S. President Donald Trump.
