Starting with the name, October. It comes from the Latin word that translates to “eighth month.” This is because October was the eighth month of the Roman lunar calendar. Today, we use the twelve-month Gregorian calendar instead.
Curious about what famous people have October birthdays? Former US Presidents John Adams, Theodore Roosevelt, and Dwight D. Eisenhower all were born in October. So were Mahatma Gandhi and Christopher Columbus. Pretty cool, right?
