The hip-hop pioneer, philosopher, producer and writer KRS-ONE visited BIMM Manchester as part of his UK tour to impart some insights to the students in attendance, delving deep into the history of Hip-Hop culture and music.

KRS-ONE rose to prominence as part of the hip-hop group Boogie Down Productions, which he formed with DJ Scott La Rock in the mid-1980s. Following the release of the group's debut album, Criminal Minded, fellow artist Scott La Rock was shot and killed, with KRS starting the Stop the Violence Movement in response to his death. Ever since then KRS-ONE has been active in both music and politics, releasing a number of books and records, as well as forming his hip-hop archival and education society, 'The Temple of Hip-Hop'.
