Regarding the name for the submarine, there is a "II" at the end because there was already a submarine developed in the 1960s called CURV which stood for Cable-controlled Undersea Recovery Vehicle. My dad’s stood for Civilian Underwater Research Vehicle. Different acronym, but he still wanted to further differentiate it by adding the II at the end. Oddly enough, on the Wikipedia page for the real CURV submarine, it mentions a CURV I and CURV III, but not a CURV II. Probably just pure coincidence, but I thought it was neat still.
