The witch burning shows a frightening ideology and fundamentalism that was enough to take 91 human lives in Vardø alone. It's not long ago, and it's about real people, terrible fates and misconceptions. It is easy to draw parallels to historical events where people are persecuted and innocently judged by superstition, ideologies and fundamentalism, one can see many similar tendencies in the world as recently as today. In a world that is becoming increasingly divided, we are at a crossroads when it comes to "us" and "them" mentality. Humans have in many cases feared the unknown and turned different people and cultures into enemies, what steps can we take and what direction can we go in order to be better in the future?
