Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD), colloquially known as “Zombie Deer Disease,” is a neurodegenerative disorder affecting deer species, which causes drastic weight loss, coordination loss, and aggressive behavior, resembling zombie-like traits. Although no human cases have been reported, the disease’s similarity to other prion diseases such as Mad Cow Disease raises concerns about the potential for cross-species transmission, making it a subject of close monitoring and research in the fields of wildlife management and public health.
