Heavy snow causes travel disruptions across England, Ireland

Residents across northern England and southern Ireland woke up to heavy snow Saturday, leaving more than 12,000 homes without power amid freezing temperatures.

The UK’s national meteorological service reported that sleet, heavy snow and thawing could lead to flooding in places.

The snow also caused travel disruptions on roadways and temporarily closed airport runways in Manchester and Liverpool.
