
The monarch used his first King’s Speech in the House of Lords to state that the drive to achieve net zero emissions by 2050 will not result in “undue burdens” being placed on families.
Addressing the Lords, he said: “Legislation will be introduced to strengthen the United Kingdom’s energy security, and reduce reliance on volatile international energy markets and hostile foreign regimes.
