In China's Yunnan province, a national first-class protected animal, a gaur, has been living with a herd of domestic cattle for more than ten years. According to villagers, “It came here back in 2009, a tiny little calf at the time, and no matter how we tried, we couldn’t drive it away.” Authorities acknowledge that separating the gaur from the cattle would be challenging, but they will continue working on integrating it into nearby wild gaur herds to return it to its natural habitat. The gaur and domestic cattle size difference really shocks everyone!
