“Old Grimes” has become popular at bluegrass jams largely due to Chris Eldridge and Julian Lage. I reached out to Chris and he said it’s a traditional tune that he learned from Jesse Cobb, his old bandmate in the Infamous Stringdusters, who may have learned it from Matt Combs in Nashville. In this guitar lesson, I’ll teach you the main guitar melody for “Old Grimes” along with tablature that you can download below the video. We'll also go over the chord progression and strumming pattern. The Guitar Pro file is also available for download for those of y’all that have a Guitar Pro tab reader.

The Gear I Use:
Acoustic Guitar Strings - Woodtone Country Series
Acoustic Guitar - Martin D18 Ambertone Finish, Collings D2H, Atkin D28, Martin D-16GT, Martin D-15
Guitar Pick - BlueChip TP40
Thumb Pick - Dunlop 9003P White Plastic Thumbpicks, Large
Capo - Shub S1 Deluxe
