🌐 Are you a part of any collectives or parties?
I co-run Chug Club with my friend Josh (Goomi). We threw a few wicked parties years ago featuring artists such as Abena, Kessie, Auratekh, Zoe Pea, and John Paynter but took a step back when it became too much money to risk. We play at Outlaws Yacht Club regularly as part of our residency inviting guest DJs to come down. Leeds has a beautiful and intimate left-field scene which is exciting to be a part of, and the talent is undeniable.
✨ What sparked your interest in digging/collecting music?
I had minimal musical education when I was younger, so it took moving to Leeds for uni at 18 to really spark my interest. I spent most of my first year at uni going to events on my own around the city and seeing world-class DJs blow the roof off. Working at Wire Club for 5 years helped cement this obsession, and I was fortunate enough to work when Andrew Weatherall played all night long a few months before he passed.
🎉 Tell us about any parties, events, collectives or labels that have inspired you.
The recent NARR birthday featuring Bakk Heia, Malka Tuti at OHM in Berlin, Paisley Dark, Zmatsutsi, Sabres of Paradise, Chitta (and its owner Miguel), Amniote Editions, Kulør, Club Cosmos, NSA up in Scotland, Curses. Just off the top of my head right now—I find myself being inspired constantly.
📀 Tell us about your approach to digging; where do you find your music?
Discogs mainly. I have added a ton of records to my collection over the past year and find it the most rewarding way to experience and play music. I do also enjoy the pros of digital music, and Bandcamp usually comes through for that.
