Superchargers and turbochargers are both forced induction systems that increase an engine's horsepower by forcing more air into the engine. The main difference between them is how they are powered:
Superchargers: Powered by the engine, usually through a belt that runs off the crankshaft.
Turbochargers: Use the engine's exhaust gas to spin a turbine that drives a compressor.
