This project has turned into more than I initially planned. But as I've been working on the songs, and developing more ideas for the video, the album began to take on its own mini adventure based on my story of the Unseelie Court.
-------------------------------------------
Here's some lore to follow along with the album:
A human ventures to the outskirts of her village, the meadows there are serene and spotted with ancient ruins of an old world. She is lulled to sleep under an old oak tree, and is pulled into another world through an enchanting lullaby.
A glowing, white thread lights her path. She follows this thread and finds her path blocked by the twin guardians of the Great Mirror called The Oleysian. Answering their riddle grants her passage into an ancient wood filled with dark fae-folk, and in the far distance she sees the city of Nitheim. She continues to follow this ethereal white thread through the woods safely, coming into contact briefly with the changeling children, until arriving at the city gates. There she continues through the somber starlight city, as her thread guides her to a secret passage inside the castle.
Within the castle she finds herself having arrived in an enormourous library attached to the vacant personal chambers of the ruling Prince Dhalos. She discovers a great many things, books, magic, a wall of hearts, and a sword. Her white thread guides her to this sword, its light wrapping and weaving into the blade as if it is one in the same with the thread. A distant lullaby beckons her deeper into the castle, leaving the sword behind, she follows the song to the hidden chamber of the Dreamweaver, at the center of the chamber stands a giant white loom filled with many familiar glowing threads. The construct that is holding this realm together.
Here, the human accuses the Dreamweaver of having brought her to this frightening world, recognizing the Dreamweaver's voice from her lullaby. The Dreamweaver explains, a great deal of maidens have fallen and been lured into the dream, for their hearts help fuel the Loom and this Unseelie realm as Dhalos commands. All are prisoner here. No human before has been able to see the light-thread that would guide them through the dream. Humans no longer believe in the Fae and have lost "The Sight" to see the Dreamweaver's magic.
The Dreamweaver, an ancient Archfey, was charmed and tricked by Dhalos, and is now prisoner to the Loom which he bound her too. This Loom is what she uses to weave the dream, this reality, and lure more hearts in for Dhalos's reign. She and the Loom are now one in the same. But one weapon was cleverly weaved upon her binding in hopes to one day know her freedom. The Dreamweaver made a sword named Lightstorm. It is capable of breaking the Loom - but Dhalos in his wit, while incapable of destroying the blade outright - cursed the blade to be unwieldable by all Fae. Due to the nature of the sword being made purely of the light-weave from the Loom itself, it has long since been invisible to mortals without The Sight. The Prince's plan was fool proof, and the Weaver was forever his to control.
"But here you stand, with eyes in your head, believing in fairy tales. If we all wish to wake from this dream, then it is time to unleash Lightstorm."
