Riccardo Chailly today presented his last season as music director .He will open with Lady Macbeth of Mzensk, directed by the Russian, Vasily Barkhatov. It will be the 12th time Chailly has conducted the 7th of December curtain-raiser.
He will also conduct a new production of Nabucco and will end his tenure with Verdi Requiem.
The next Music Director Myung-Whun Chung will conduct Carmen, as well as Otello at the opening of the 2026/2027 season.
Daniele Rustioni will return to La Scala after many years with a new production of Faust. Revivals of Turandot, Lucia and Traviata will be conducted by Nicola Luisotti, Speranza Scappucci and Michele Gamba.
