In case you're new around here, hello! We're Samuel and Audrey and after spending the past decade travelling and living overseas, we've now decided to take on the challenge of renovating a property in Argentina with multiple homes and a hotel. It's going to be a big project, but we're excited for what lies ahead and you're invited to join us on this once-in-a-lifetime adventure.

This House Hasn't Been Lived in for 20+ Years! 🏚 | We Tour An Abandoned House in Argentina
🔍 Chalet Abandoned Since 1999: Full Tour & First Impressions
We finally unlocked the doors to the first house we’re renovating—a chalet untouched for over 20 years! Here’s a room-by-room walkthrough of what we found (in order), plus our first thoughts on breathing new life into this family property in the Sierras.
1. Welcome to the Foyer
The chalet’s “entrance room” was once an open terrace—now enclosed with a simple door and no windows.
Squidgy in hand, we dust away 20 years of dirt and spider webs to make it passable.
2. Vintage Finds & Moldy Walls
Antique wooden window frames, a solitary chair and empty wine bottles line moss-covered walls.
A weathered chandelier hangs from dark-wood plank ceilings—full of character, but begging restoration.
3. Let There Be Light!
Flashlights and lanterns come alive as we open old windows, revealing the cosy layout by natural daylight.
4. The Retro Kitchen
Pass-through hatch into the dining room—an original detail we can’t wait to preserve.
Sink, cupboards and aged cutlery still tucked away in spider-webbed drawers; lone cups and plastic bags offer a glimpse of past inhabitants.
Corner “pantry” doubles as a utility room with the water heater, fuse box and even a backdoor exit.
5. Main Living & Dining Area
Piles of blankets, pillows and 1987 fashion magazines litter the floor alongside kerosene stoves and drip buckets collecting roof leaks.
Vintage suitcases, faded paintings and doormats—an eclectic snapshot of years gone by.
6. Bedroom + Archway Detail
Arched “study” entrance leads into a former children’s bedroom—ripe for an office or cosy guest suite.
Sunlit main bedroom features old suitcases, family portraits, riding gear and an arch all its own.
7. Preserving the Ceiling
We’re salvaging as much hardwood planking and original beams as possible, honouring the chalet’s 80-year history.
8. Bathroom Time Capsule
Classic Argentine bathroom with toilet, bidet and subway-tile floor in surprisingly good condition.
Deciding to keep the retro vibe: clean up fixtures, but the vintage tiles stay.
9. Scissors ≠ Seven Hectares!
Sam’s new snippers are perfect for border plants—but don’t be fooled: heavy land clearing is left to professional machinery.
🔨 What’s Next?
Roof replacement is booked and scaffolding goes up soon.
Sorting through sentimental heirlooms before major renovations begin.
Target: make the chalet livable by April, with electricians, plumbers and landscapers all lined up.
