In just two days of heavy rainfall, the city of Angra dos Reis, located in the state of Rio de Janeiro, was thrust into the heart of a disaster. With 357 mm of rain falling per square meter, rivers overflowed, homes were flooded, roads were shut down, and hundreds of residents were evacuated. A state of emergency was declared as the coastal city turned into a disaster zone facing a major humanitarian crisis.
