Kraków was the official capital of Poland Krakow from 1038 until 1596. The Historic Centre of Kraków was declared UNESCO World Heritage Site. "The Historic Centre of Kraków ... is one of the most outstanding examples of European urban planning, characterised by the harmonious development and accumulation of features representing all architectural styles from the early Romanesque to the Modernist periods."
