While I was waiting for the metro at one of the busiest stations in Rome, something unusual happened. I was approached by a group of seemingly friendly people who casually splashed water on me. At first, it seemed harmless, but then I realized they were pickpockets trying to distract me while attempting to steal my belongings. What stood out to me the most was that I always saw the same girl with different groups of people, constantly moving around the station, engaging with unsuspecting tourists like me. It became clear that this was a coordinated effort to divert attention and take advantage of tourists.

Thankfully, I noticed what was going on and was able to protect myself, but it was a wake-up call for anyone who’s traveling in busy areas like Rome’s metro stations. Pickpockets often use tricks like these to divert your attention and get close enough to swipe your valuables. It’s important to stay aware of the surroundings and recognize when something feels off. Don’t let small distractions, like someone spilling water on you, lead to bigger problems. Always stay vigilant and keep an eye on your belongings.
