Rome is the capital of the Italian Republic and the most populated municipality of Italy. It is also the capital of the Lazio region and the administrative center of the Metropolitan City of Rome. The municipality of Rome has a special administrative system, called Roma Capitale.

The University of Rome "La Sapienza" (L'Università degli Studi di Roma "La Sapienza" in Italian, also known as Sapienza University of Rome or simply Sapienza, meaning wisdom in Italian) is an Italian state university founded in 1303, among the oldest in the world as well as the oldest in the city. In 1935 the new complex near the Roma Tiburtina and Rome Termini Stations designed by Marcello Piacentini was inaugurated in the presence of the Italian royals. It is now main campus of the university called Città Universitaria (University city).

Roma Termini station is the main railway station of the city of Rome, the largest in Italy and the fifth in Europe. It is the only station in the historic center of the city, in Piazza dei Cinquecento, and owes its name to the nearby Baths of Diocletian (Terme di Diocleziano in Italian). With its 32 platforms, it is the largest station in Italy.
