How to Set Up Email Alerts on AvaEye PoE IP Cameras

In this video, we walk you through how to set up an AvaEye PoE security camera for email-based alerts with snapshots. You can accomplish all of this without the need for an NVR (network video recorder). First, we show how to power the camera using a PoE injector and physically connect it to your network. We also guide you through accessing the camera's web interface and configuring time settings to ensure the camera can reach out to the internet to send emails and ensure your snapshots have accurate timestamps. Before you get started, make sure that the camera is connected to the same router or modem that your PC is connected to, that an SD card is installed, and if you want to use a Gmail account, create an app password. For help with creating an app password for your Gmail account, check out our guide within our knowledge base. https://www.cctvcameraworld.com/security-camera-systems/how-to-set-up-an-app-password-in-gmail/ After making sure the time is correct, we show how to check the status of the SD card and format it if necessary. It's not required, but you can also check the camera's encoding settings to adjust them for savings on the SD card or if your internet connection is slow and has trouble uploading snapshots. Next, to turn snapshots on, there is a toggle in the Video & Audio settings and Snapshot page. We use a Gmail account in our video tutorial, and you can find an example of the settings in both the video and our blog post, accessible through the article link. Last but not least, you need to enable one of the various motion detection methods or a smart detection rule, as well as the email alert trigger for the chosen method. In our video, we demonstrate how to set a motion detection rule with the grid and area options. If you only want to receive alerts during certain times of the week, you can also schedule the alerts in the plan tab of whichever detection method you end up choosing.
