This is the first album dedicated to the Carmina Burana repertoire by the New London Consort, founded and directed by Philip Pickett in 1978. This album was recorded inside the Henry Wood Hall in London in 1986. The interpretation of the Carmina Burana repertoire Codex Buranus by the New London Consort was certainly influenced by the Clemencic Consort's stupendous 1974 release, but Pickett chooses to approach these songs with a more delicate and less daring approach than Clemencic, while maintaining a playful, joyful and popular spirit.
